The Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue (DFMRT) is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide a rescue service 24hrs a day, 365 days of the year in the English Lake District. Based in Broughton and Ulverston the team specialise in mountain searches, crag rescue and remote area evacuation techniques. Mountain Rescue is part of the emergency services in the local community such as the Police, Ambulance Service and Coast Guard and we also help to educate and remind the general public, via a programme of illustrated lectures, demonstrations and displays the importance of mountain safety.
As a registered charity, the team relies on public donation and active fundraising to help maintain and develop the specialised equipment and skills the team need to function. We hope this site may give some useful information about DFMRT, what we do as a Mountain Rescue Team in the UK, the operational area we cover and the variety of call outs we receive.
